Delhi High Court opens 150 Senior PA and PA posts; apply from 15 September
The High Court of Delhi has notified 150 vacancies for Senior Personal Assistant (SPA) and Personal Assistant (PA), with online applications opening on 15 September and closing on 5 October 2026, according to FreeJobAlert and Karmasandhan. The posts are Group B positions under the 7th Central Pay Commission, at Level 8 for SPA and Level 7 for PA.
Of the 150 posts, 117 are for Senior Personal Assistant and 33 for Personal Assistant. The notification, published on the court's website, delhihighcourt.nic.in, also sets a correction window from 12 to 14 October for applicants to amend their forms, FreeJobAlert reported.
Category-wise vacancies
For SPA, the breakdown is 43 posts for General, 14 for EWS, 32 for OBC-NCL, 16 for SC and 12 for ST. All 33 PA posts are reserved for EWS, OBC-NCL, SC and ST candidates, with no unreserved posts in this cycle, according to the vacancy table published by FreeJobAlert. Horizontal reservation for persons with benchmark disabilities covers 7 SPA and 3 PA posts.
Who can apply
Applicants need a bachelor's degree from a recognised university. Shorthand and typing speeds are the key filters: SPA candidates must have 110 words per minute in English shorthand and 40 wpm in typewriting, while PA candidates need 100 wpm in shorthand and 40 wpm in typing, FreeJobAlert reported.
The age limit is 18 to 32 years as on 1 January 2026. Relaxations apply of 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC-NCL and 3 years for ex-servicemen, with 10 to 15 years for PwBD candidates depending on category. The application fee is Rs 1,500 for General, OBC-NCL and EWS candidates and Rs 1,300 for SC, ST and PwBD candidates, plus transaction charges.
Selection process
Selection has four stages, according to the notification summary: an English typing test, which is qualifying; an English shorthand test; a descriptive main examination; and an interview. Final merit is prepared on the marks of Stages II to IV, meaning the typing test only screens candidates in and does not count towards the ranking. Admit card and exam dates are "to be announced later", FreeJobAlert said.
Personal Assistant roles in constitutional courts are among the better-paid stenographer positions in government. Level 7 starts at a basic pay of Rs 44,900 a month and Level 8 at Rs 47,600, before Delhi-rate house rent and other allowances. Eligibility is not limited to Delhi residents, so the posts typically draw applicants from across the country.
Candidates preparing for other stenographer exams, such as SSC Stenographer Grade C and D, will find the shorthand and typing thresholds broadly similar, though the 110 wpm requirement for SPA is higher than the 100 wpm demanded for Grade C.
What happens next
The application link goes live on delhihighcourt.nic.in on 15 September. Applicants should keep scanned copies of their degree certificate, category certificate and photo ID ready, submit the form before 5 October and use the 12-14 October correction window if needed. The typing test schedule and admit cards will be announced by the court in due course.
